Huntington Hotel
Huntington, New York

NHC has been engaged as a development and operations consultant on a new project located in Huntington, Long Island, NY. The Historic Building will be brought back to life as an intimate 54-room Boutique Hotel on Long Island’s picturesque North Shore. The hotel will have a cocktail lounge, breakfast area, lobby, in house laundry and meeting room. The property was designed in 1910 by New York City Architect Julian Peabody. The Historic Building which was once the Huntington Town Hall was originally built in the early 1900s. The room section of the building will be a new wing developed on a Steel Platform rising three floors above a parking lot with Modular oversized Hotel Rooms. The rooms will be 13.5’ x 30’ and will have large bathrooms. The décor will be high end designed by a NYC designer who is not as yet announced. The rooms will be developed in Berwick, Pennsylvania by Deluxe Building Systems. This process has been used many times for similar hotels. The reason to use this process is time and cost. The development time should be reduced by some 7 months, and the cost is less as it is built in a factory as a process. In addition, before the room modular is delivered, electric, plumbing, sprinkler system, flooring including marble and carpet, bathrooms and wall décor are installed within the factory process. Our architect, Joseph Scarpulla of Huntington has been able to join the floors of the new building with the floor of the Historic building thereby eliminated extra elevator stops. The two buildings will be linked by a transparent glass atrium, allowing the two structures to stand somewhat independently. The guestroom wing takes architectural features and materials of the historic building and incorporates them into an up to date structure that brings the complex into the 21st Century. Classical and modern are merged harmoniously. The interior design will be warm and welcoming, yet contemporary, enriched by the references to the Town Hall’s vintage roots. Guests will experience a residential quality in all areas of the hotel thanks to the mix of furnishing, finishes and thoughtful details. The intent is to provide the ambiance of a grand North Shore residence in the vernacular of today.

Huntington is a town with many fine shoppes and especially an abundance of fine dining and family style restaurants. The beautiful Huntington Harbor waterfront is nearby and there are many large companies in the area that utilize hotel rooms all week long and frequent the restaurants in town. The community will welcome a hotel of this style. Service will be first class and will welcome the social business on the weekends from the local community. There are many Weddings, Bar & Bat Mitzvahs, Christenings, and other social events. There are many catering establishment and country clubs in town and near the Hotel that will welcome this fine addition.

The town will soon welcome the opening of the Paramount Theatre which will host Concerts in the new 1600 person theatre. The theatre will open in October 2011 with its first concert and is expected to host concerts regularly throughout the year for the residences of Huntington and all of Long Island.
