The Ramada Inn, Bath N.Y. was the first REO property that that NHC managed and ultimately owned & operated. The property was introduced to us in 1975 as a half finished property owned by a developer that filed bankruptcy. A client of our firm wanted to purchase the property and we put together a transaction for him with the bank. As the papers were being put together, the client backed out of the deal and The Rochester NY bank asked NHC if they would like to purchase the property. We put together some capital from clients and supervised the completion of construction, purchasing the FF&E, designed the Restaurant and Lounge, hired a manager and staff, created a menu for the upstate Wine region and operated the business for some eight years. We learned a lot during that time and it led us to many other properties.
